Beachy Keen - Part 1

Well, Spring Break sure different than it use to be!  I think it is kind of hilarious that they have spring break in pre-school, but everyone does, so Kyle and I are embracing it.  We have been having a wonderful weekend in our ole' stopping grounds, Sandestin.
The boys are kind of the perfect age for the beach.  It is magical, fun, huge, and though they are still demanding at times, it has been the best vacation we have had with them yet.
It has been a much needed break for Kyle and I.  Work has been very very busy for Kyle, which being in construction is a great thing, and I am so proud of him and his company is very lucky to have him.  And I have been majorly slacking on the blogging because my schedule has been the craziest it has ever been.  I hate that I have not been documenting so many fun things going on for the boys, but  I am in Bible Study while the boys are in school on Mondays.  And T, W and Th I work while they are in school and then every afternoon of the week except Wednesday after I get them from school I have to get them to to my mom, or the sitter or a playdate because I am helping with the track team at Oak Hill.  I love doing that, but when I accepted the position I was not pregnant.  Not that I had the time then anyways, but now I really feel like a full time working mom and it is exhausting.  Anyways, back to the beach!!!!!!!!  And we have been way too camera happy to prepare for pictures!

Right before we left our house Hunter ran back in because he said he forgot something.  Kyle went to go check on him and he was writing a letter to one of his best buddies in the world.  Kyle had to help him with some spelling of course but I actually think he could have worked that out too if Kyle had not been in there with him.  Needless to say, it was 100% Hunter's own idea and it was so cute and we had to go by Drew's house to put it in his mailbox.  I didn't have the heart to tell Hunter that Drew was also leaving for Spring Break and had already left.  It didn't matter.

My sweet Draket fell asleep with a sucker in his mouth Friday night in the car.   Lucky for Kyle and I, Grammie and Pop's house is just about half way to the beach so we drove to Alabama Friday night to spend the night and drove the other half Saturday morning.
When we arrived Saturday afternoon we headed straight for the beach and found 3 huge holes that someone had dug.  The perfect place for the boys to play!

Sunset playtime

We ended the day with some delicious pizza from a local pizzeria, Giordanos, and were excited to get on the beach the next day

Sunday, first full day at the beach....
We woke up Sunday morning to our first hunt for sea shells on the beach.  It was a foggy morning but turned out to be an incredible day!

The sun came out mid morning and I cannot remember a warmer Spring Break.  It was absolutely gorgeous!  Warm enough to even swim in the ocean comfortably!   And these boys were having the time of their life.

We got a little too much sun the first day, but ended it with some dinner at the Crab Trap and then bought some ice cream on the way home because we knew we would be eating it every single night!

And even though we have a bedroom with twin beds for the boys like they have at home, they thought it was so cool that the couch in the den turns into a bed.  So THAT is where they want to sleep.
Monday
The next morning we started the day with another  walk and another sea shell hunt on the beach.  Another gorgeous day!   And the more I look at these pictures I cannot beieve our children could possibly be this big or this old!

We then had a to take a break in the middle of the day and went to lunch and the oulets to get out of the sun.  There was not a cloud in the sky and like I said, we got more sun than we meant to the first day.  But when we came back for the afternoon they were excited to get back out to the beach!

Sweet Drakey fell asleep on the couch as Kyle and I were getting ready to go to dinner.  The beach sure wears them out!  So we decided to stay in and make spaghetti.

Tuesday
It was another gorgeous day but very very windy.  Lots of soccer, baseball, kite flying and sand castly building on the beach.

 Our silly Drake!

Hunter and Drake made some friends the first day, Cooper and Riley from Cananda who were 4 and 8.  They have had a lot of fun with them.

We ended the day with dinner at Busters and then some putt-putt golf.  One of Hunter and Drake's favorite thing to do!

  2. I love it!!! We are headed there on Monday and I can't wait!!! I can't believe how tiny that little crab was, and that you even found it! There is nothing like going to the beach for family vacations. They make the best memories and everyone sleeps so hard. :) I just hope that the sunburn (especially Kyle's... ouch!) get to feeling better soon! Miss you guys and you'll have to come back again when we move down there.
